THE TWO MOST EMBLEMATIC NEIGHBORHOODS OF GRANADA
The legendary Albaicin district, World Heritage Site, is also an essential visit.
Panoramic view of the Albaycin from the Generalife gardens.
Founded by the Iberians, conquered by the Romans, and then fortified by the Zirid dynasty, the Albaycin district of Granada retains its authenticity as a “medina”, winding and narrow streets, which take us on a journey under Al-Andalus.
The beauty of Albaycin is getting lost in the streets and alleys. That’s what makes this neighborhood so happy. A large part of the Zirides wall from the 10th century is visible, the alcazaba qadima, the hammams or Arab baths, the carmenes, the church-mosques, the water reservoirs or aljibes and unmissable places such as the viewpoints of Sant Nicolas, Saint Cristobal, places to admire the sunset, considered the most beautiful in Spain but also admire the view of the exterior of the Alhambra and the Generalife under the accompaniment of the gypsies with their guitars and dancing.
Both Albaicin and Sacromonte are neighborhoods to immerse yourself in art, legends, flamenco with spectacular landscapes.
